I just read an article that Facebook will acquire Instagram for $1 billion. Mark Zuckerburg strikes again! What a genius. He never ceases to amaze me with his true vision for what the future will bring and how he can use it to bring us closer together. The photo boom is here. I read an article a while back that said that an approximate 10% of all photos ever taken (yes… EVER TAKEN) were taken in 2011. That’s wild.
With the increased adoption and incorporation of mobile devices into our everyday lives, useful services like Instagram allow us to capitalize on technology. Cell phones are replacing many things that we used to use separately– address books, gaming systems, cameras, e-mail, computers, and soon… credit cards. My cell phone has two cameras on it, one of which is an 8 megapixel which takes amazing photos. My camera that I had in college was a 2-3 megapixel.
The real question that this acquisition raises is how can we harness this boom, bubble, fad, trend (whatever you want to call it) and connect with each other better? In what way can we, as marketers, use this to engage with our core markets and continue to build relationships?
Power to the photo!
I could read a book about this without fndinig such real-world approaches!
